Seminar: Urban passenger transport and fuel consumption

BITRE has recently published information sheets, titled Fuel consumption by new passenger vehicles in Australia 1979–2008 (IS30) and Urban passenger transport: how people move about in Australian cities (IS31). Information Sheet 30 examines trends in the fuel consumption of new passenger vehicles sold in Australia. Information Sheet 31 analyses the trends in passenger transport in Australia's eight capital cities over the period 1977 to 2008. Although car travel continues to dominate travel in our cities, urban public transport has accounted for much of the growth in travel from 2004 to 2008.

Dr David Gargett will present a seminar on Thursday, 15 October 2009 from 11:00am to 12:00pm. The venue will be the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, 111 Alinga Street, In Blue Conference Room. Please RSVP to Lynnette Philip (lynnette.philip@infrastructure.gov.au; phone 02 6274 7818).

The information sheets are now available on the BITRE web site. For further information please contact David Gargett (David.gargett@infrastructure.gov.au; phone 02 6274 6879).
